Chapter Happenings: Leading from Behind

entered the the 2019-20 academic year with the the approach of of growth growth inward leading to growth growth outward as as as professionals and as as as a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a chapter chapter The chapter chapter leadership leadership team has embodied servant leadership leadership with a a a a a a a a lead lead lead from behind style to o o o o o o o o er er er er er er existing members opportunities for active involvement and personal leadership within Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) This philosophy has allowed for for the necessary space for for our professional development committee to create and host the rst CSI Ohio Conference coming April 2020 at at at Kent State University This opportunity a a a a a ords the the professional development committee and other interested members of of of CSI leadership experience related to various stages of of of planning for a a a a a a a professional conference The CSI Ohio Conference is being designed as an an opportunity of growth for years to to come including and beyond the the Kappa Sigma Upsilon chapter chapter to to other CSI chapters in Ohio The purpose of the CSI Ohio Ohio Conference is to connect students with counseling professionals from across the state and to to o o o o o o o o o o o o o o er continuing education at at at a a a a a a a a a minimal cost to to professionals The theme of of of the the conference will be Professional Collaboration Amongst All Levels of of Counselors We are honored to have CSI past-president Dr Nicole Hill as as our keynote speaker She is a a a a a prime
example of of of of one who fosters professional professional collaboration collaboration In the spirit of of of of professional professional growth and collaboration collaboration Kappa Sigma Upsilon sought guidance from the CSI Executive Counsel about presentation topics which tailors the the conference to to the the needs of of its members The professional development committee committee is being creative and collaborative with other chapter committees further embodying the the the the lead from behind approach For example the the the nancial planning committee will facilitate fundraising for the the the the costs of the the the conference and and the the the community outreach committee will create advertisements and and develop relationships to bene t t t t t t t t t t t t t t the the conference This collaboration within the the the chapter fosters the the the message of leadership not being done in in in in isolation but within the the community This project o o o o o o o o o o o o ers ers a a a unique opportunity for for our members to step forward with the the the support of the the the leadership committee right behind their e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e orts The CSI Ohio Conference is a a a a a a true example of of many students and professionals working toward a a a a a a a a common goal Leadership is not only about standing in in in front of of a a a a a a a a room with people of of shared interests moving from goal goal to goal goal It can also be be about facilitating and o o o o o o o o o o o o ering space for recognition of other members in in in the the the chapter to to step forward to to share their skills and gifts As leaders we value the the the importance of open communication and keeping everyone on on on the the he he Kappa Sigma Upsilon chapter has Kappa Sigma Upsilon Chapter 15 CHI SIGMA IOTA EXEMPLAR
